Sony Needs to Wake Up With the PS3

You know, I love my PSP, but Sony needs to get their shit together on a lot of fronts. One of them is the PS3. They didn't show shit at the last E3. Microsoft had playable demos and video of gameplay that, if anything, was below the capacity of the games that will be available at launch. Meanwhile, Sony had a bunch of video that they claimed the PS3 was "theoretically" capable of producing. Then, when Microsoft announced the price of the xbox bundles, Sony pushed pseudo-preorders on sites like Amazon with prices that WILL NOT be realistic when their product hits shelves (whenever that is). And before Microsoft announced their prices, Sony was making statements about how the PS3 would not be cheap ... as if to prepare the market for a $500+ game system. With a BluRay drive promised at launch this thing will not, I repeat, will not be cheap. I'm hearing $500 price tags on the stand-along BluRay players ... so how much will a PS3 will a BluRay drive cost? Anyway, Sony is a kick ass company that creates great products and they are only hurting themselves by not having the confidence to be up front about what the are creating and how they are going to market.

Read the story that got me pissed enough to make this post in the first place.

Issue 2 of NYC2123: Dayender is done

Thank the good Lord Jeebus. That was a lot of work. I think I put in about 150 hours in on this one ... maybe more. I worked 45 hours from Friday to Sunday to get this fucker done. But, I'm fairly happy with the results. The illustration style has evolved slightly (for better or worse I'm not sure) ... I think its just due to the fact that this style is something completely new for me.

This issue includes more cool cyborg shit, body mods and generally more of the squishy, organic aspects of cyberpunk that I love. There's also a lot more of my co-worker and friends -- two of my bosses and another guy from work play the parts of The Cooker, the Elevator Guards (same guy plays both guard #1 and guard #2) and the Skiff Driver. I got to step into the shoes of Julius which was interesting (lots of nights getting dressed up in a home-made costume and taking strange photos of myself).

You can read or download issue 1 and 2 from here.

Also, we have a store now too so you can get cool NYC2123 apparel and whatnot -- some sexy stuff for you female cyberpunk nerds as well.

Banana Republic Taunts My Brother With Notion Of Shopping Online

My brother just called me from the streets of New York to get me to help him find a Banana Republic (business meeting and he forgot a tie). Yeah, he doesn't like to admit he shops at BR, but he's claiming he just needed a tie and he remembered there was a BR near by. So he called me to look up the location on the Banana Web site. But when I went there they had a big sign saying the site was "temporarily closed for scheduled site improvements". As if they couldn't keep the old one up until they pushed the new one?

Anyway, no big deal right? I'll just look up the locations on a local New York shopping directory. Annoying, but the end result was that we located the BR right around the corner from where my brother was standing. The kicker though is what he saw when he when to open the front door.

I also found the URL of the "temporarily closed" page a bit funny in its massive redundancy: (http://www.bananarepublic.com/store-closed/BananaRepublic/storeClosed/en/index.html)
